Axos Hotel - Platanes (Rethymno)

The location was spot on, just a short walk to the beach. So many tavernas close by. We loved exploring the small inner harbour with its charming old houses and bustling quayside. And the pool area had plenty of sunloungers for those lazy days. Highly recommend checking out the local spots!

I was a bit disappointed when we checked in, as I expected a smoother process but there was some confusion with the room assignments which took a little longer than hoped.

The very warm welcome of all the staff of the hotel. They speak English fluently. They have a green label (energy friendly). Direct Bus from Heraklion (and close to Rethymnon and Xania). 2 minutes walk to a great beach. Great restaurants and tourist shops around. Not crowded, nice countryside. Great atmosphere, quiet. Axos bar is nice. Swimming pool is very clean and big.

Breakfast was not good (hot beverage tasted like hot water : coffee, chocolate and hibiscus tea), orange juice was more a syrup, sausages were not good, marmelade was not tasty. There was good cake, bread, butter and eggs. I only ate there twice (although paid 4€ for each 5 mornings). it is the only negative thing at Axos!

All in all everything was good, had a very comfortable stay for holidays.

Nothing it was perfect.

It was just an ideal choice for a mini-vacation in Platanes with good value for price. The apartment was large with a great balcony. Try to book in advance for better parking options nearby.

Had to hold the shower as no attachment, but not a major problem.

While the location is quite nice, the floors were clearly not washed was great. Can we talk about the unbearable noise from the halls? I almost had to write a good review, but i was shocked there was no complimentary treat for solitarily suffering through this stay!

The hotel is nice and quiet, the staff was great and helpful!

I do think there could be better cleanning and towel changes for people who stay there as long as we did, a week.

The hotel is wonderful with good pool and incredible location in Platanes on the main street parallel to the sea. They serve hot breakfasts for all tastes with cheeses and Greek cuisine and dishes from Greek cuisine.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast featured a good variety, and the air conditioning in both rooms was a lifesaver during the heat of August. Our evening chats with the friendly bar staff added a personal touch to our stay.

Found that the breakfasts were below standard and that the hot water was never more than luke warm.

Great staff and clean rooms. The poolside snack bar was perfect, though the pool could get crowded.

My family were made very welcome by the family run hotel. They were kind, helpful and very welcoming. Making our holiday a very pleasant and relaxing time!
